The Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice was to come to Prague on the 5th of May to sign – against the will of most Czech citizens – the treaty on radar base. Although she eventually did not arrive, the No to Bases initiative carried out the announced demonstration on Wenceslav Square in the center of Prague.

The aim of the protest gathering and subsequent march was to show that Czechs constantly do not want American military base on their soil and that those Czech politicians, who are eager to sign such a treaty, have no mandate to do so.
