Levin in Eastern Europe to discuss GMD
Last month, an influential American politician Carl Levin along with his two colleagues from the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) made a trip to Eastern Europe. They gradually visited Poland, Czech republic and Russia.
The Congressional delegation stayed in Warsaw on the 16th of April and met with the representatives of local government and experts on international and security issues.
The very next day, Levin's group moved to Prague for a meeting with Jiri Paroubek, the chief of the biggest opposition social democratic party (ČSSD), probably the one to win the upcoming early election.
According to a press release of ČSSD, social democrats told the American guests that their negative stance on proposed US radar (as a part of missile defense called GMD) would not change.
