Hundreds in Prague protest proposed US missile defense installation, demand referendum

PRAGUE, Czech republic: Several hundred demonstrators opposed to a U.S. missile defense installation on Czech soil gathered outside Prague Castle on Saturday to demand a referendum on the issue.

"Most of the public don't agree with the radar," said Jan Majicek, an organizer of the rally outside Prague Castle, the seat of the Czech presidency. "The people want a referendum as the only means to decide about the radar," he said.
The protesters planned to march through the city to the U.S. Embassy in Prague.
